Designing a High-Performance Culture: EX, Flexibility, and the Future of Game Dev

 

Key Learning Outcomes:

Participants will gain insights into how a global technology leader aligns HR strategy with physical space design to drive innovation:

  • Examine the principles of Flexible Workspaces and hybrid models utilized to support diverse teams, balancing the need for deep focus work with spontaneous, cross-functional collaboration.

  • Analyze HR programs like 'Kudos' and 'Open Innovation' that directly enhance the Employee Experience by promoting psychological safety, recognition, and empowerment to take creative risks.

  • Discuss talent development strategies that prepare the workforce for the Future of Work, including programs for mentorship, mobility ('Missions'), and skills diversification.

 

Proposed Site Tour Flow:

This highly interactive and facilitated session will offer a deep dive into the studio's holistic approach to people and place:

  • Welcome & Culture 3.0: Introduction to Ubisoft Singapore’s core values (Care, Innovate, Lead) and the shift toward an agile, human-centric studio culture supported by modern HR policies (e.g., hybrid work model, flex hours).

  • Workplace Design for EX & Focus: A guided experience through the studio's environment, highlighting the intentional design of collaboration hubs, quiet zones, and game-inspired spaces to optimize employee well-being and varied work styles.

  • Operationalizing Innovation: Frameworks and facilitated discussion on internal initiatives, like the 'Open Innovation' program, which allows employees to pitch new game concepts and gain experience outside their job scope, fostering internal career growth and skills-based learning.

  • Recognition & Well-being (The 'Kudos' Program): An examination of systems dedicated to continuous recognition and fostering a positive environment where all contributions are acknowledged, linking directly to high engagement and retention.

  • Mini-sprint Activity: Co-creating the Hybrid Studio: A collaborative exercise to co-design early-stage solutions for a specific challenge related to sustaining team connection and organizational culture in a permanent hybrid work setup.
