Shawn Huang Wei Zhong is Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Finance and Manpower, and Member of Parliament for West Coast–Jurong West GRC. He previously served as Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education, before assuming the Manpower portfolio in 2025.

Shawn is a former F-16 fighter pilot and commanding officer of the RSAF 140 Squadron. He graduated as the Top Military Graduate at the United States Air Force Academy, trained as an aeronautical engineer, and flew over 1,000 hours. He was Parade Commander for Singapore’s National Day Parade 2018 and President Halimah Yacob’s inauguration in 2017. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship.

Before entering politics, Shawn was Director for Enterprise Development at Temasek International, where he focused on deep tech investments in advanced materials, manufacturing, mobility, and space. His investment and policy experience now converge in his leadership on fiscal resilience, workforce transformation, and inclusive economic growth.

Shawn has been active in social and community work for over a decade. He is a co-founder of two IPCs, Tasek Academy and GreenSG, and has worked closely with youth-at-risk and ex-inmates to support their reintegration and personal development. He remains deeply passionate about uplifting lives and expanding opportunities, so that all Singaporeans can thrive and lead meaningful, fulfilling lives.
